Reiki (Universal Life-force Energy):
According to Penelope Quest’s book Reiki for Life:
“Reiki is a safe, gentle, nonintrusive hands-on healing technique…which uses spiritual energy to treat physical ailments without using pressure, manipulation, or massage. However, it is much more than a physical therapy. It is a holistic system for balancing, healing, and harmonizing all aspects of the person – body, mind, emotions, and spirit – and it can also be used to encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth.”
Reiki is a subtle but powerful way to reduce stress and induce rest and relaxation, thereby enabling self-healing to take place. Reiki can improve your mental health and emotional well-being. Effective treatment of any condition involves body, mind, and spirit. This is why I like to combine my nutrition consultations with Reiki treatments as they help to reenforce one another.

What to expect in a reiki session:
You will be lying comfortably on your back fully clothed on a Reiki table with a sheet and/or blanket over you. You will be in a room with doors and blinds closed with relaxing music playing quietly in the background. Your job is just to relax, be open and be without attachment. I will then place my hands gently on your body in specific places as you can see from the photos below. The amount of time I spend on each hand position is about 3-5 minutes but can be much longer depending on what your body needs at the time. There is no pressure, massage, or manipulation.
The responses during a Reiki treatment vary greatly from person to person. No two Reiki experiences are alike, even for the same person. Some people experience warmth or tingling as the Reiki flows through them. Many feel very relaxed and peaceful and tend to drift off to sleep. It is not uncommon to become quite emotional as blocked or stagnant energy is released. You may even see colours or images. And some may not sense anything until the next day. Therefore, it is important to remember that:
